Yet another favorite of mine, with which I’m sure you’re familiar, is Princeton Professor Emerita Nell Painter’s “The History of the White Race.” Prof. Painter traces “whiteness” even further back than Allen…to the Ancient Greeks and their interactions with the Ancient Egyptians. She explains how what we call “Western Civilization” and attribute to the Greeks was actually a whole panoply of ideas and practices which Aristotle, Plato, Herodotus, even Socrates and most of the others, learned at the feet of the Ancient Egyptians at the wonderful Library of Alexandria. Deep yogurt.
