As to Harris, I do not say that any of this history is her fault. I'm just curious as to whether she experienced it. If so, how so? Did it "color" her views of darker-hue black people?

As you point out, this practice has certainly and significantly waned over time. But it still exists in certain places and pockets of black "social" life.
