To Edie King: I stopped “whitesplaining” years ago. You know, explaining white people to white people. It’s just not worth the time and energy. Most of them are really only pretending that they just don’t understand racism, white racism, white supremacy. All they have to do is look around them; look at where they live; look at how they live; look at where and how they work, and play, and educate, etc., ad infinitum. They know full well what they have done and continue to do to not just black people, but to all people everywhere and every time who do not “look like” them. Murder, rape, robbery, theft of whole continents, genocide on an industrial scale.

That’s why I don’t get excited about “climate change.” At some point, somebody’s gotta ask, “Well, why is this happening? Who caused it?” The answer, of course, is white people and their capitalism caused this earth-destroying catastrophe….And now we ALL must suffer for it. But you won’t find many of them who will acknowledge/admit it.

So, I quit trying to convince them of anything. All of this world’s problems and issues can and will only be solved when white supremacy — whiteness itself — is destroyed once and for all.

Paraphrasing James Baldwin: As long as people think that they are “white,” there is no hope for them…or us.
