This point is telling.

In both former Nazi Germany and former apartheid South Africa, racism has been declared officially illegal. In both countries, people are actually punished with jail time for using racist words or displaying racist symbols.

In other words, it seems white people have to be forced to abandon their racism. We cannot continue to wait for them to “come to their senses,” or “have a change of heart,” or “educate” themselves. They must be forced to join the rest of us — the human family.
