They have been feigning ignorance about their own crimes against humanity for so long that most of 'em simply cannot bring themselves to admit they might be wrong; that they are not God's gift to the world; that the truth is just the opposite --they are a curse upon this planet and everything and everybody in and on it.

They now see the handwriting on the wall --that their "whiteness" will no longer suffice and that soon they will be forced to share this world equitably and with everyone else. And they cannot stand it.
