The easiest way to find out about Ghana and African Americans is to simply "Google" those words. There are at least two well organized associations of black Americans living there and have been for years. They specialize in welcoming, helping, guiding, acclimating new arrivals to the country -- for free.
There is also a woman named Ivy Prosper who is a journalist originally from New York (I think) — Correction (7/11/23): She’s originally from Canada , but close enough— who has a daily/weekly newsletter/blog about black Americans in Ghana. She's been there for many years.
Finally, look up "The Year of Return -- Ghana, 2019." That was/is a government sponsored program which encourages black Americans to "return" to Ghana after our 400-year sojourn in the American wasteland. If you have skills or knowledge that can help the Ghanaian people, the government is offering land and citizenship. In any event, there are tons of materials and people who are already there and who do videos and podcasts and blogs, etc., willing to help your family make this important decision.
