That’s because “women in the workplace” — unless they are very high ranking members of that workplace — are usually considered ornamental or “necessary evils” meant to meet 20th and now 21st Centuries’ requirements for at least an appearance of “equality.” Here sexism and racism tend to intersect and even intertwine. At least, that’s been my experience (as a black male paralegal) working in white male-dominated law firms for 30 years.
To answer your question posed in your title….The “men in your life” are obviously short-sighted. As far as I can see, you are “beautiful” with or without the long locks.
