This story, however, passed from the realm of “gossip” and into legitimate “news” when the man’s rejected wife went on the public record and filed for divorce — in a public courthouse.
When private citizens seek and attain public office, they have knowingly or unknowingly ceded their right to privacy. Every aspect of politicians’ “private” lives becomes open to public scrutiny when they seek to represent the “public.”
For the record, I am immensely proud of Rep. Omar. But! She’s gotta know and understand that her life is now an “open book.”
