Sounds a lot like Sharazad Ali way back in 1989: Her book, "The Black Man's Guide to Understanding the Black Woman," caused a national uproar among black women cause she dared ask a simple question about why black boys were "acting out" so badly. The answer: Black women. No woman alone (without a man somewhere involved) can make a boy into man, she argued. Also, black girls are taught early on that they don't need a man, that their father abandoned their mother and her, and that any man she chooses (or who chooses her) will abandon (or worse) her, too.
She's all over Youtube, if interested.
Just like her, you got guts.
