Federal District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson finally lowered the legal boom on Kyle Young for his leading role in the January 6, 2021 siege and attempted coup d’etat against the US Capitol Building specifically — and the US government generally. The judge described Young’s actions as those of a “human wrecking ball,” even as she acknowledged and accepted his admission of guilt for aiding in the assault of a Metropolitan Dee Cee police officer. That single guilty plea was only arrived at after extensive plea bargaining down from twelve original charges. And so, therefore, as something of a saving grace, Judge Jackson allowed Young credit for the seventeen months he has already spent in the downtown Dee Cee lockup since his arrest.
