Iran’s state-controlled television (with the assumed imprimatur of the Mullahs leading the Islamic Republic) has placed an $80 million bounty for the head (only) of Donald Trump.
This pronouncement is the first material and public move by Iran toward avenging the hit that killed its Quds Force leader, Army General Qasem Soleimani. The state-controlled television outlet said that the $80 million offer was made on behalf of the Iranian people. Prior to this offer, public pronouncements and promises of vengeance were just that — rhetorical promises and threats. But the 1,000-year history of the Persian Empire shows clearly that these are people who do not make idle threats.
