I once worked for a law firm that represented labor unions. You shoulda seen 'em. They'd get up in court and passionately argue the case for whatever union they were working for.

Funny thing is, though, in their very own law office, the secretaries and paralegals wanted to and actually tried to form a union for better pay and conditions, but those selfsame lawyers shut that down right now, and threatened to fire anybody who even mentioned unionizing their office.

Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), all of the lawyers were white, and their "support" staff (us) were "diverse," white, black, Hispanic.

Excellent essay. You really went deep here. Really deep.
