I love teaching at the college level. But only as an "adjunct" and part-time. I mean, I just cannot see trying to live on a teacher's pay, even a non-tenured professor's pay. I've read that Howard University's profs have had to strike almost constantly in order to make as much as D.C.'s city bus drivers. Howard U!!

And, to your point...public schools don't come close to paying enough to risk life and limb guarding against domestic terrorists (and not a few out-of-control "kids").
