Good points all. I contend, tho, that had not Malcolm's "by any means necessary" mantra been in the background and served as the undercurrent and always ready to surface backdrop, Dr. King's insistence on nonviolence would have never brought white people to the table of compromise.
We are now dealing with a whole new (and improved) generation of black people....young black people, who will no longer simply "wait" until white people decide to join the rest of humanity and finally realize that they are just another group of people, not THE chosen or superior or supreme or "better than" people.
Finally, it seems that a very large segment of white folks have determined taht they will never, ever, accept black people as fellow human beings, and they are willing to fight and die for that proposition...again.
