Finally! Trump Held in Contempt of Court, Ordered to Pay $10K Per Day
Is this the first real crack in his wall of crime?
Now comes word that an actual, living, breathing New York state judge has not only found Donald Trump in civil contempt of court, but has ordered him to personally pay $10,000 per day until he produces and turns over long sought after documents that have been subpoenaed by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
In her motion for sanctions against Trump, Attorney General James requested the fine as a pecuniary enforcement mechanism designed to finally get Trump’s undivided attention and to signal the seriousness of her claims. The requested documents, she says, are necessary for her investigators to properly and thoroughly conduct the ongoinbg civil probe into Trump himself and the Trump Organization’s “questionable” business practices.
James lauded Justice Arthur Engoron’s ruling as “a major victory.”
“Today, justice prevailed. Our investigation into Donald Trump and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings will continue undeterred because no one is above the law,” James Tweeted.
