Exactly. Trump is not the “problem.” His followers are — and they are legion. All Trump has done (and quite deliberately) is pull the covers off what has always been hidden (well…not always “hidden”) just beneath the surface: The US is, always has been, and looks like it always will be, a white supremacist/white racist, colonial-settler nation-state. Trump’s ham-handed attempt to “buy” Greenland or “exchange” Puerto Rico for it, exemplifies this point precisely. Both places are filled with “nonwhite” peoples, but Trump didn’t even bother to ask them how they felt about being bought and sold or “exchanged.” He only talked to the other white imperialists, the Danes.
