And then there was the late, great writer/poet LeRoi Jones (before he metamorphosed into Amiri Baraka)....He was married to a white woman for years, had kids, the whole nine. As his literary skills and fame grew, as "Black Power" and the "Black Arts Movement" --which he spearheaded --swept across the country, it slowly dawned on him. The contradiction: "How can we talk/write 'black' but sleep 'white'?" he asked himself (and us). He divorced the white woman and married a beautiful sistah. His son (their son) is now mayor of Newark, NJ (or as Baraka called it: New Ark).
