And, of course, there is the historical fact that many African "elites" happily participated in the Atlantic Slave Trade--a fact that white supremacists today never tire of citing (as though that not only justifies but absolves them of their 500-year-long reign of terror against black people).
If you want to see (rather than just read about) African participation in the slave trade, watch Viola Davis' movie , African Queens; and Adesuwa Oni's portrayal of Queen Ngina of what is now Angola.
By the way, I did not watch a single second of the "coronation," especially when I learned that Lionel Richey (among other black Americans) were going to perform.
