Also, we must always remember that altho we have much in common with Native Americans, not all of them were on our side during some of the most trying times in African/Black life. A number of "tribes," for example, held blacks as slaves and/or specialized as runaway slave catchers -- especially the Choctaw and Cherokee.

Finally, it always amazes me to recall that the very last Confederate general to surrender during the Civil War was, yes, a Cherokee Indian named Stand Watie. (A great many Indians fought with the South during that war).

Still, I sympathize/empathize with them. After all, they were virtually wiped out. At one point during the '60s, there were less than 250,000 left in America.
